RACE RULES
(To be read in conjunction with the Course Briefing)
These race rules are essential to ensure a safe and fair race is enjoyed by all. Failure to comply with any of these race rules will result in disqualification.
- The race will start on time. It is very important to be early to complete registration and understand any
course changes and safety issues discussed at the race briefing. Allow time to access the Treble Cone ski
field road.
- NZ standard road rules apply to all private or public road at all times.
- Marshals will be at all transition areas and will be responsible for parking and transition management.
- They will be identifiable by fluorescent jerkins.
- Please obey any instructions they give you to ensure everyone gets a fair go. Failure to do so will result in disqualification of the team or individual.
- Transitions must occur inside the transition area marked with cones.
- Bibs to be worn at all times, over the top of all garments except during the kayak section.
- Competitors must ensure they have a bicycle that is appropriate for the intended course and is in good
working order. Your safety depends on it!
- Drafting is allowed on all legs.
- Approved NZ safety standard cycle crash helmets are to be worn on all cycle legs.
- Changing bikes at the bottom of the Treble Cone access road is not allowed. There is no transition area for
this.
- Any competitor who withdraws from the race must inform one of the race Marshals immediately to avoid
any search costs.
- Kayak buoyancy, helmets (cycle helmets allowed) and PFD are compulsory for the kayak section.
- Runners must follow the marked 4x4 tracks on the run section when traveling through private property.
- As the run course is on private property, no pre race training on course is allowed.
- Take all rubbish with you and leave all gates as you find them.
- There will be no aid stations on the course.
CANCELLATION / ALTERNATIVE COURSE INFORMATION:
- In the case of adverse weather conditions the Race Directors reserve the right to alter the course
accordingly.
This Information will be passed to you at the race briefing at Treble Cone.
- If access to Treble Cone is unavailable please listen to Radio Wanaka 92.2 for race start and course change information.
- The following day will be an alternate race day if the set day is cancelled.
- 75% refund available if you withdraw before August 13.
- 50% refund for withdrawals before August 31.
- No refunds after August 31or if the race is cancelled completely.
SUPPORT CREWS:
- Transition maps available (see course description).
- Support vehicles please obey marshals' instructions at all times.
- No assistance shall be given to any competitor on route between stages except for serious equipment
malfunction.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE:
- In emergency call 111.
- For all other enquiries, medical requests etc ask one of the Marshals who will inform the Race Directors.
- There is radio and cell phone contact between the race Marshal Safety Teams.
- Over the course there is cell phone coverage for emergency services access.
- Wanaka St John Ambulance Manager has been advised of this event.
- Local Police and SAR advised of event.
- Police support on traffic management plan subject to operational commitments.
MEDICAL:
- 1ST Aid kits at each transition area.
- St John, Police and SAR have all been advised and are aware of the course.
- Doctors and Ski patrol staff are available to respond to all medical emergencies on the Treble Cone ski field
or access road and on the Snow Farm access road.
TAIL END CHARLIE:
- The last competitor in each leg will be shadowed by a race marshal.
PRIZE GIVING:
- At the Snow Park in the restaurant bar area immediately on completion of the last competitor.
- Showers, meals, bar facilities are available to all competitors at the Snow Park. Accommodation specials are
also available on request.
- Massages are available at $10 for 10 minutes.
